Who Told You?
Hello everyone. Welcome to “Notes From the Presence.” I’m going to give the inspirational shout-out for this blog to my podcast co-host in craziness and grace – Karitas Townsend!!
This past week, we were talking about our identity in Jesus and how He has made us brand new. The problem is, we don’t see it that way. We most often have a view of ourselves that is far outside of what God is thinking about us. As we talked, the following scripture came up:
Genesis 3:9-11 (NASB) Then the Lord God called to the man, and said to him, “Where are you?” He said, “I heard the sound of You in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; so I hid myself.” And He said, “Who told you that you were naked?“
So here is where I will venture off into a series of questions. If any of these questions land outside of your comfort zone, please bear with me till the end of this post:
Who told you that you were naked?
Who told you that you were unworthy?
Who told you that you are unlovable?
Who told you that you are dirty?
Who told you that you have nothing to offer?
Who told you that you are unqualified?
Who told you that you aren’t good enough?
Who told you that you are a bad friend?
Who told you that you are not intelligent enough?
Who told you that there is no hope?
Who told you that you are sick?
Who told you that God is not happy with you?
Who told you that you are letting Jesus down?
So, the question is – who does tell us these things? Now, let’s hear what heaven has to say about the matter:
Heaven says you are clothed in His righteousness
Heaven says you have been made worthy through His blood
Heaven says you are totally lovable, and beloved
Heaven says you have been made spotless and clean
Heaven says you have divine destiny all over you – you have much to offer
Heaven says that He has put every qualification in you that you need to excel in life
Heaven says you have a new nature that channels His goodness
Heaven says that you are an excellent friend, one who many trust and love
Heaven says that you have the mind of Christ, you are exceptionally intelligent
Heaven says there is always hope
Heaven says that by His stripes you are the healed one
Heaven says that in you, He is well pleased
Heaven says that you are exceeding all of Jesus’ expectations
Today, I end with a quote: “We can’t afford to have a thought about ourselves that God isn’t thinking about us” – Bill Johnson
